Dental Implants A Healthy Solution for Missing Teeth

Missing teeth may cause you to feel self-conscious about your smile and, if they are not replaced, can lead to complications with your oral health. AtBeverly Hills Oral Maxillofacial Surgery & Dental Implants, Dr. Aynechi is an expert in implant dentistry and can restore health and confidence to your smile with dental implants.

A dental implant is a healthy, long-term solution for restoring missing teeth. While traditional dentures and dental bridges restore the appearance of missing teeth, dental implants restore their appearance and function because they fuse to the jaw bone. This fusion helps prevent bone loss caused by missing teeth and provides your replacement teeth with a solid foundation, so you can enjoy the foods you love comfortably.

If you struggle with missing teeth or are on the verge of losing your teeth, we invite you to contact our office. Dr. Aynechi is a board-certified oral surgeon and physician who will help you achieve the healthy and complete smile you deserve.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

Prevents Bone Loss

The dental implant post is inserted into the jaw and stimulates the bone during chewing. It serves as an artificial tooth root, preserving facial structure and preventing bone loss from occurring.

Restores Functionality

Unlike bridges or removable dentures, an implant has no moving parts or uncomfortable oral appliances. You can eat comfortably with healthy, new teeth that stay in place.

Looks Natural

Your restorative dentist will fabricate a crown that blends naturally with your existing teeth. The results look so natural, most people can't tell the difference between a dental implant and a natural tooth.

Longevity

After the healing process, your dental implant will become a fixed addition to your smile. If you care for your implant properly, it has the potential to last a lifetime.

Types of Dental Implants

As an oral surgery expert who specializes in implant-based restorations, Dr. Aynechi offers many different types of implant treatments to replace missing teeth.

  • Single Tooth Replacement. We can use one dental implant to replace a tooth anywhere in the mouth, as long as there is sufficient jaw bone to support the implant.
  • Multiple Teeth Replacement. To replace several teeth, we can place multiple implants or an implant-supported bridge.
  • Same-Day Implants. Following tooth extraction, we can insert a dental implant into the empty tooth socket to restore the tooth immediately.
  • Full-Arch Restoration. Patients who are missing most or all of their teeth can restore their entire smile with an implant-supported denture in one or both arches.
  • Zygomatic Dental Implants. Zygomatic implants are a solution for patients who have experienced severe bone loss in the upper jaw. Instead of being inserted in the jaw bone, these long implants are inserted into the cheek bone.
  • Zirconia Dental Implants. Patients with metal allergies or who wish for a metal-free implant option can select zirconia implants, which are made of a tooth-colored ceramic material.
  • Pterygoid Dental Implants. Another option for patients who have severe upper jaw bone loss is pterygoid implants, which are long implants that are anchored in the bone behind the upper jaw.
  • Mini Dental Implants. Mini dental implants have a much smaller post than traditional implants but function similarly. They are ideal for patients who have experienced bone loss or who cannot receive full-size implants.

Dental Implant Procedure

When you visit our practice for your consultation, Dr. Aynechi will evaluate your oral health and take 3D scans of your mouth. We will discuss your tooth replacement options and design your custom care plan. Many patients undergo IV sedation for dental implant surgery, but there are many anesthesia options available.

On the day of your procedure, we will administer the selected form of anesthesia and wait for it to take effect. Your oral surgeon will make an incision in the gum tissue and insert the implant. The abutment, which is a small piece that connects the post to the crown, may be attached at this time. If not, you will return for a second surgical procedure to have the abutment attached to the implant.

Your surgeon will attach a temporary crown to the implant, and over the next few months, the implant will fuse with your jaw bone. Once it has fully healed, you will visit your restorative dentist to receive your final crown. In some cases, if your final crown is ready, we can attach it to your implant the same day as your surgery, and you will not need to wear a temporary crown.

Our office provides detailed instructions to follow after dental implant placement. Be sure to follow these instructions closely, as they will help ensure a smooth recovery and the success of your implant.

Types of Anesthesia

There are many types of anesthesia and sedation available.

Cost of Dental Implants

The cost of getting dental implants is different for every patient. We take several factors into consideration when determining the final cost, such as:

Frequently Asked Questions

How long do tooth implants last?

If the crown becomes damaged or worn down, you may require a replacement. The implant post itself fuses with your jaw bone and is designed to last a lifetime.

Do dental implants get cavities?

Dental implants cannot decay or get cavities. They are made of metal and/or porcelain, so they cannot be affected by the bacteria that causes tooth decay. Be sure to practice good oral hygiene to keep your implant and natural teeth clean and healthy.

How long does the dental implant procedure take?

The dental implant surgery itself will take about one hour per implant. You can expect to rest for the remainder of the day, as you may still be under the effects of anesthesia. Most patients experience little to no discomfort after the procedure, but if you do experience pain, you can manage it by taking over-the-counter pain medications as instructed by your surgeon.

Who is not a candidate for dental implants?

Many patients with missing or failing dentition qualify for dental implants. Even if bone loss has occurred, we can rebuild the jaw bone with bone grafting techniques to allow for implant placement. Dental implants may not be suitable for patients who have certain medical conditions or periodontal disease, or those who have experienced severe bone loss.
