Facial Injuries
Injuries to the head, neck, mouth, or face can vary in cause and complexity. Types of facial injuries include:
- Facial lacerations
- Lacerations inside the mouth
- Avulsed (knocked-out) teeth
- Fractured facial bones, including the nose, cheek, or eye socket
- Fractured upper and/or lower jaws
- Facial burns
A facial injury may occur as the result of an accident in the workplace, a vehicle accident, a sports injury, or a domestic incident. Regardless of the cause, an injury to the face requires prompt attention from a trained professional, such as an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
Treating Facial Trauma
Our practice is a certified surgery center equipped with an anesthesiologist, a nurse, anesthesia machines, and hospital-grade emergency equipment. We go above and beyond to provide our patients with the exemplary care they deserve and are committed to providing care in the safest possible environment.
First, we will likely take 3D scans to assess the extent of the injury. Using these detailed images, Dr. Aynechi will design a custom care plan to treat the injury and ensure the facial structures regain function and aesthetics. There are many anesthesia options available to ensure your comfort during any type of procedure, and we will help you select the right option for your needs.
Soft tissue injuries may be treated with sutures, which are placed from within the mouth whenever possible or in less noticeable areas to reduce visible scarring. Bone injuries often require surgery, where your surgeon will use plates or screws to reposition and stabilize the face or jaw bones. Using screws and plates often eliminates the need to wire the jaws shut while they heal.
Our team understands that facial trauma can be an emotional experience. To help you feel comfortable and supported throughout the oral surgery journey, our team is always here to answer questions and walk you through each step of your treatment. It is our goal not only to restore oral health and function following a traumatic event but also to achieve pleasing aesthetic results that will leave you feeling confident.
Types of Anesthesia
